Remote Online Notarization (RON) is a notarization performed by means of two-way video & audio conference technology (similar to a Zoom call). In this case, the notary and the signer do NOT meet in-person. Instead, the signing and notarization of the document is conducted remotely (online) via live video conference using a state-approved RON technology platform. An additional certification is required from the Secretary of State to become an online notary.
